POWER NETWORKING 2011
Eta Lambda Omega chapter hosted its third Power Networking Event in April. This free event provided an opportunity for African-American professionals in the Pasadena area to meet, greet, network, and flourish!
Over eighty people attended the event which was held at Big Mama’s, a minority-owned restaurant in Pasadena. Hors d'oeuvres were provided. Guests were encouraged to mingle, chat, and chew.
Two local businesses were honored for their outstanding service to the community for a combined total of 118 years. Owners of Luke Walker’s Barber and Beauty Care and Woods-Valentine Mortuary were present to receive the awards. They were also presented with certificates of recognition from the office of California Assemblymember Anthony Portantino.
In an effort to foster ongoing support of local businesses, all guests were presented with a directory of African-American businesses in the Pasadena area. The directory was prepared by chapter committee members and will be available electronically.
ELO’s goal of promoting minority businesses was accomplished! Attendees were able to make business contacts while having fun and stated that they would welcome the opportunity to attend a networking event more than once a year.
